Fern is a local, vegan, niche cafe and bakery ironically located in Fernwood - Victoria, British Columbia. Though the name has the word "Fern" in it - it was not named after the Fernwood neighbourhood, but after the owner's love for the Fern covered forest floors of Vancouver Island.
Established in 2018, it is the only dedicated 100% vegan bakery cafe!
Offering a vast variety of specialty pastry items, a full cafe menu, speciality coffee beverages, and fun lattes. Focusing on creativity, on the weekend Fern has a featured brunch item.
Fern is owner-operated by a married couple (10+ years vegan) that had a dream and wanted to share it with the world. With deep backgrounds in the restaurant industry and passion for real and good quality ingredients, they make all items in-house and from scratch. They have a drive for creativity, and the desire to share with locals and travellers just how great plant based food is, without any compromise to taste.
Owners, Tamara and Braden Parks, come from a small town in Ontario, but have been living on Vancouver Island for since 2016. In their spare time, they enjoy spending quality time together with their son, exploring the island, hiking, and foraging for wild plants, berries, and mushrooms in the Fern covered forests.
In our bakery we shake things up and introduce fun new items often. Expect to be thrown back in time with some childhood classics, or be able to spot some of your old favourites you haven't had in years.
Our top recommendation? Try a Big Bad Cinnamon Bun otherwise known as our famous cinnamon buns! We even heard they're the best in town (vegan or not!)
We have deep fried yeast doughnuts on the daily as well with 2-3 different flavours.
Feel free to call when we open for the day to put some treats on hold!
Cinnamon bun and doughnuts - regular size or jumbo can be special ordered in advance with roughly 24-48 hours notice. The more notice the better your chances!

In the Cafe we have a fun menu based on vegan comfort food consisting of burgers, hand cut fries, mac n cheese, poutine, fried chickun, and more!
We supply breakfast items all day, everyday! Often times we have a featured brunch item on weekends.
